Many families use humidifiers to relieve dryness. Humidifiers have even been given many new functions, such as adding essential oils to refresh the air and help sleep. However, adding "condiments" in this way will bury many health risks. In addition, many people use it improperly, which will cause the ultrasonic air humidifier to become a breeding ground for bacteria. The bacteria will be spread into the air with the atomization of water, causing a series of health problems through breathing. Many people think that a humidifier is just a machine that atomizes water and increases the humidity of the air. As long as the water is clean, there will be no hygiene problems. However, the type of machine, usage time, water quality, etc. will actually affect the amount of bacteria (bacteria, mold) in it.
1. Humidifier type
When people choose a ultrasonic mist humidifier, they often choose appearance, function, spray, humidification capacity, etc., which is also vigorously promoted by merchants, but the humidification type related to cleanliness is ignored. In fact, household humidifiers are roughly divided into three categories: ultrasonic, direct steam and purification. The study found that compared with ultrasonic humidifiers, direct steam humidifiers and purification humidifiers have lower bacterial release, but direct steam humidifiers have a lower safety factor, so purification humidifiers are a better choice.
2. Pay attention to working time and water quality
For all ultrasonic mist humidifier, its use time and water quality are also related to the change of bacterial quantity. Under experimental conditions, after the ultrasonic humidifier is turned on for one hour, the bacteria in the water gradually increase with the extension of time. After being turned on for four hours a day and used continuously for five days, the number of surviving bacteria in the water remains at a high level; regardless of whether distilled water, drinking pure water or cold boiled water is added, the number of bacteria in the water will increase significantly after one day of continuous use. The number of bacteria in the ultrasonic mist humidifier is directly related to the degree of air pollution and is also a key factor in causing humidifier pneumonia.
3. Use the humidifier correctly
Humidifiers have become an indispensable item for many families, so correct use and reducing "bacteria production" must be done.
When choosing a humidifier, if conditions permit, try to choose a purification type humidifier;
Before each use, be sure to clean it first, especially after it has been left for a long time;
Do not use it for a long time every day, and do not place it too close to people, especially do not blow it on the face;
Use purified water or distilled water, do not use tap water, and do not add any "condiments" (including essential oils, disinfectants, etc.);
During use, the water should be changed at least once a day and cleaned once a week. It can be rinsed repeatedly with running water, and then wiped with a soft cloth to remove the scale around the water tank;
When not in use for a long time, the water in the water tank should also be poured out, cleaned and wiped clean before storage.
The emergence of ultrasonic air humidifier was originally intended to reduce the discomfort caused by dry air to people, which is a good thing. But the premise is to use it correctly, and never let irregular use lead to counterproductive effects.
